Automotive

Connect planning, suppliers, production and delivery around one transformation path.

Automotive supply-chain transformation must coordinate multi-tier suppliers, engineering changes, material and production planning, logistics, quality and launches without losing control of timing, ownership or operational continuity.

01

Conditions that can weaken progress

  • Supplier forecasts, releases, confirmations and delivery expectations do not remain synchronized.
  • Engineering changes, revision levels and part effectivity create planning or execution gaps.
  • Advanced shipping notices, in-transit material and receiving information do not provide reliable visibility.
  • Line capacity, tooling, sequencing, labor or changeovers are not reflected consistently in plans.
  • Quality holds or substitutions create downstream disruption without clear ownership and communication.
  • Product and model-year launches move forward while readiness dependencies remain unresolved.
  • Service-parts allocation competes with production priorities without a consistent decision model.
  • Technology activity advances while business processes, adoption and operational ownership remain fragmented.

Aftermarket planning transformation, global engine and power systems manufacturer

Situation

A global manufacturer of engines and power systems for commercial vehicles set out to move its aftermarket and distribution planning from decentralized, semi-manual tools to a single, integrated Kinaxis planning platform. It ran a competitive selection for an implementation partner.

Role

Senior Project Manager with a global systems integrator, on the proposal team. I built the effort estimate and phased delivery plan covering demand forecasting, supply planning, and sales and operations planning, along with the resource rate model and the system integration testing approach.

Outcome

Gave the proposal team a complete, phased plan with effort, staffing and pricing inputs within an eight-week window. It is the same planning discipline Saepius now brings to clients evaluating systems integrator proposals.

A thoughtful first step

A stable plan depends on the decisions and capabilities behind it.
